Season Disk Upgrades

Last updated: July 20, 2006

Our season disk collection has evolved over time and will continue to do so.

At the time each season was introduced, it took full advantage of the features in the then-current version of Diamond Mind Baseball, the limits of the computers we were supporting at the time, and available historical data.

But the world doesn't stand still. Some of these disks were created many years ago, and since the time of their creation, many new features have been added to the game, computers have become more powerful and disk space much more plentiful, new sources of historical data have become available, and some of our research methods have improved.

As a result, we have periodically upgraded some or all of our past seasons to take advantage of these developments, and we will continue to do so.

This page describes our upgrade policies and describes the upgrades that we have made available recently.

Minor corrections

From time to time, we discover errors in the statistics or ratings. When that happens, we update our master copies of those seasons so the corrections will be included in new shipments of those seasons.

If you purchased a past season before a correction was made, you can purchase a season disk upgrade or by apply the corrections yourself. In most cases, you're better off making the changes rather than buying an upgrade. To keep you up to date, we will list corrections on the Season Disk Support Page.

Upgrade eligibility

You are eligible for the upgrade price if you purchased a season disk from us at any time since we opened our doors on September 1, 1995. We have a complete record of all seasons disk purchases since that date, so we can easily check your eligibility for upgrade pricing on any particular disk.

Free upgrades

When we release a new season disk upgrade, customers who purchased that season disk in the preceding six months are entitled to a free upgrade to the new version of that disk.

To request a free upgrade, call us at 800-400-4803 during our business hours (9-5 Pacific time, Mon-Fri) to send email to info@diamond-mind.com. We do not charge shipping and handling fees on free upgrades.

Upgrade pricing

Season disk upgrades are $5 each plus shipping and handling. This price does not apply to the 2006 update to the All-time Greatest Teams Disk.

Recently-completed upgrades

To some extent, all of our season disks have been upgraded more than once. For example, when we released Diamond Mind Baseball version 8, we converted our entire catalog to the new format and added some additional information to the era, park, and team records.

Generally speaking, these types of upgrades are minor. The official version 9 editions of those season disks, the ones we sell to new customers, are only a little different from what you would have if you had previously purchased the same season in version 8 format and then converted it using DMB version 9.

In other words, it usually doesn't make sense for you to pay for upgrades to those seasons. That's by design. We include a conversion feature in every new release of Diamond Mind Baseball so your investment in season disks is preserved to the fullest extent possible.

On the other hand, some past seasons have been improved in very significant ways, and you may decide those upgrades are worth paying for. Here is a list of upgraded past seasons that we have made available in recent years:
