The 2000 Past Projection Season file includes opening day team rosters, the 2000 schedule, projected statistics and ratings for over 1500 players (including hundreds of top minor-league prospects), and manager profiles set up with rotations, lineups, and depth charts representing our assessment of how the players were projected to be used in 2000.
In the spring of 1998, Diamond Mind began publishing season files using projected batting and pitching statistics. The projections are based on each player's major-league and minor-league performance over the past three years, taking into account the league rules (DH vs non-DH), ballpark effects, competitive level (majors vs AAA vs AA), playing time, and the age of the player.
How are our Projection files different from our Season files? In three ways, mainly. First, the Projection file rates players based on how they did at all levels in the past three seasons, while the Season file rates them based on how they did in the majors in a single season. Second, the Projection file includes many prospects who haven't made the big leagues, while the annual Season file includes only those players who appeared in the big leagues that season. Finally, because they are put together after the season, the annual Season file include real-life transactions and game-by-game starting lineups for that season.
A Past Projection file is a companion product for the Diamond Mind Baseball game. The game software provides you with all of the tools you need to play simulated games, make roster moves, produce dozens of statistical reports, generate league schedules, and more.
This product may be ordered in DMB Version 9 or DMB Version 10 format.
