In the spring of 1998, Diamond Mind began publishing season files using projected batting and pitching statistics. For 2012, DMB has teamed up with Dan Szymborski, who has been producing his own projections since 2002 using ZiPS (sZymborski Projection System
At its core, ZiPS generates probabilistic models of baseball performances using a players past history, both in the majors and minors. These models take into account the individual characteristics of players, including age, speed, park, and other various measures of player type, and using large groups of players with similar characteristics in the past (a technique regularly used in weather forecasting and financial markets), attempts to predict how players will perform in the future
The 2012 Projection Season is a companion product for the Diamond Mind Baseball game. To use this season file, you must also have Diamond Mind Baseball version 10. The game software provides you with all of the tools you need to play simulated games, make roster moves, produce dozens of statistical reports, generate league schedules, and more.
